Lauren Whiteman

about me

I’m lauren whiteman (M.ed). I’m from Dallas, I eat Rudy’s, but it’s been a while since I’ve been to Big T.

I’ve always loved stories. From the overarching themes, to the climactic moments, to the contextual information in the background that allows it all to come together, I find myself getting lost in books, articles, movies, music, and podcasts a few times a week.

Immersing myself in storytelling in various forms is what best enabled me to connect to my students and colleagues as an educator at the collegiate level, and drove my research interests in academia. It’s what informed my thoughts and research on advocacy in the university space, and in turn, was what prompted me to begin writing.

I have words in established media outlets, local upstarts, and in the archives of radio, podcasts, and television broadcasts. I’ve delivered keynotes, facilitated workshops, and presented at conferences. What I’ve discovered in the process is that everything comes down to storytelling, but so many stories haven’t been told . . . yet.

My work centers on creating and assisting others in creating the narratives that best suit their needs creatively, communally, and professionally, because we all deserve to own and tell dope stories about the lives we lead and the work we do.

Does your storytelling adequately reflect the things you’ve created? Are the stories surrounding you as dope as you are?

Let me help with that.
